Weeds in my veggie garden

Hello All!

I am having problems with major weeds in my vegetable garden. Before I planted anything I went out there and dug up all of them and treated the soil with veggie safe weed and feed but that didn't seem to do anything. I just returned from a 5 day vacation to see that the weeds are back and bigger than ever! They are now very large and the veggie safe weed and feed is doing nothing (I have waited over 2 weeks to see results). I would like to avoid digging them up but is that my only option? Dig them up and put down mulch and weed blocker?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Pictures would help us know what kind of weeds they are and why they come back.

Cover those "weeds" with newspaper or cardboard and cover that with a mulch material. The newspaper/cardboard deprives the "weeds" of the sunlight they need to grow sp they die and put back into the soil the nutrients they took out to grow. Soils left unmulched tend to grow a lot of what we call "weeds" which are meant to cover bare soil in an attempt to 1. prevent soil erosion, 2. retain soil moisture, 3. add organic matter to the soil, and 4. aid soil temperature control.
Mulches do all those things as well and prevent unwanted plant growth we call "weeds".
