Weed ID please

Hello, I live in Orlando and recently I decided to remove SA grass from one isolated section of my lawn and replace it with Asiatic Jasmine. I removed the grass, tilled the area and planted Jasmine plugs in spring. Then the awful damp and hot summer of Florida started and with it I started noticing this weed growing along with the Jasmine. Within a month it took over that entire section covering the jasmine completely. It is too much to remove by hand now. I thought it is a grassy weed so I used Ornamec on it but no avail. I think it is a doveweed but I am not sure. Can someone help me out here

Growth looks incredibly like an epidendron orchid...but surely not ?

Compare it to Murdannia. There are several species.

Thanks purpleinopp, It does have small purple flowers like Murdannia (Doveweed). Can you suggest a weed killer for it?

More dry conditions should kill it, unless they are not all lovers of moist spots. If you have a solid patch, you could smother it.
