I have about 50 of these sections in my front lawn and wondered if anyone knows what it is and how to get rid of it?

If you post this on the Weeds forum, you are likely to get a response. Collectively, the group over there seems able to identify just about every weed that ever sprouted.

I think I found out what it is.
It's Quackgrass.
