name that weed

Now that 100+ temps have dipped, I'm venturing back into the garden. The weeds have taken over in my absence. I've looked at identification web sites & books until I'm cross-eyed and still can't determine what this one is. I tried to show in the shot the reddish color underneath, but that didn't come out at clearly as I hoped.

Any ideas?

Deb, it's hard to see but they strongly mimosa seedlings. A beautiful tree that creates a lot of weeds. See the link below.

Here is a link that might be useful: Mimosa Tree (Albizia julibrissin)

Not mimosa

Thanks for the clue. I did a search for mimosa seedling images which led me to this article - http://www.ajc.com/hp/content/living/homeandgarden/reeves/083106.html

So, it's not mimosa, but an invasive tropical. Looks like I have my work cut out for me!

The litle weed you have is Chamber Bitters. Tough little booger to get rid of. Spreads really fast, too. About the only way I found to even begin to control it without going through a scorched earth campaign is to pull it. Have a container with you, grab it as low as you can and pull it ...roots and all. Don't try to shake the dirt off the roots because you also will be speading the spores from under the leaf stems. Just dump plant, root, dirt and all in your container. If you don't get the roots, the plant will continue to grow. When it is mowed, the spores spread as far as the mower can throw the seeds, and the plant will just stay low and spread out. Do a web search for "chamber bitters" and you will find out much more.
I'm sure there's chemical out there that will help, but snatching this #*#@* weed gives me so much more satisfaction. I hate this weed in my yard almost as much as I do creeping beggarweed.
