| Conspiracy? My lawn was looking great thru July. Then, all of a sudden, I started noticing weird grasses and weeds that I never had before start to sprout. Not much after that, I received a letter from "Your friendly neighborhood lawncare specialist" that said they had come out and done a free lawn analysis about 3 weeks earlier and that they saw visible signs of the strange weeds and grasses that were just starting to grow. I phoned a buddy that works at one of those places and he said that some companies will spread seeds or weeds to influence your decision that you need a lawncare professional. Has anyone else heard of this practice? |

| Doubt very much that this is true. I DO believe that those companies drum up business by preying on ignorance and fear, however. I had one of those major lawn chemical companies (guess who) knock on my door with pictures of scorpions, black widow and brown recluse spiders. He said that several homes 'in the neighborhood' had infestations of them and did we want to sign up for treatments. He had come knocking on the wrong door, is ALL I'm going to say, lol. |
