does anyone know more information on the toxicity of Phytolacca americana aka pokeweed or pokeberry? i read that very young leaves and shoots are edible if they are double boiled.

i read that berries are edible when cooked but don't know how to prepare them. are they poisonous when raw, unripe, or is it the seeds that makes them poisonous? could ripe berries be eaten as long as the seeds are spit out?

RE: pokeweed poison

There is a great deal of information about pokeweed on the internet. I think you'll find that the berries should not be eatenl, at all.
