Unidentified nocturnal mammal

On Saturday night I flipped on a flood light and saw a mammal new to us on the bird feeder containing sunflower seeds. It was the size of a chipmunk, but the coloration and behavior were different. (Besides, don't chipmunks hibernate? We're in South Central Massachusetts, and winter has most definitely arrived.) These two were solid medium gray on the back, white on the belly, with a single black stripe separating the two colors. While chipmunks often dine at that feeder in the summer, they do so during the day, and approach it from the ground. These two were feeding only at night, and approached it from above - that is, they came down the tree trunk, jumped to and from the feeder, and then back up the tree. I flipped the flood light on again Sunday night and they were there feeding again. I tried searching through enature.com but had no luck. Can anyone identify the little guys?
