bird safe paint

I have a birdbath that I would like to paint. Is there a paint that won't harm the birds?

Thanks,
Michelle

I don't know, but a simple search turned up the site below.
He says to use marine paint.

Here is a link that might be useful: painting a birdbath

LOL Michelle! I'm still not sure about it. Do you have a Wild Birds Unlimited or some such type store around, that you could ask them?

Pretty sure this topic came up last year in the bird watching forum I bet you can find more info there.

Hi Terry, yeah, I couldn't come up with anything definitive either. I was hoping for a specific namebrand or something. So far the best I've gathered is enamal paint. That sure does narrow things down a bit...sorta. No, no Wild Birds unlimited here. We are lucky we have a Walmart and Lowes. Aaahhh, the joys and sacrifices of living rural.

It's not that important that I paint the birdbath. I could always paint the majority of it but leave the concaved bowl part paint free. It might look goofy but I'd rather play it safe.

Lisa, every time I try to do a search here on GW I get that "Ooops" page. But I guess I could always post this question over there, huh? Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even think of that forum as a source.

You've got a Lowe's and you're rural? Lucky you!! We've got Wal-Mart, but that's it.
I think GW is having problems with the search feature. I think the writing in red, to tell of the problem, is still on the first page of any forum. I didn't pay any attention this time though.
Wouldn't Lowe's have Marine Paint? I don't know, never looked for it before. If they do, I'd read what the can says. Not sure if it would say anything about birds specifically though. ☺
