HELP-Emergency Care for Severely Injured Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker

| Hello everyone--I normally don't post here but thought I'd find a few people interested in birds. I have a yellow-bellied sapsucker that just flew into my window and injured itself severely. It is awake, breathing and moving and seems to just need a little rest before it's ready to weather the outdoors again. I've placed some bird seed in its cage, and am also aware that it likes to feed on sap/sugar water. The internet also said berries and fruit but will not tell me which kinds.
Could anyone please inform me about the care of this bird, especially regarding what kinds of foods/fruit it will eat? Please respond as quickly as possible so that I can do whatever I can to help the bird!! Thanks so much! |

| Glad to hear the bird was ok. There is a good bit of information on how to help an injured bird on the Bird Watching forum, it is at the top of the forum. |
