bird mister

Does anyone have plans for a 'home made' version of a bird mister, similar to the one at the link below? I have bird baths, but birds don't seem to frequent them--at least not when I'm watching :-)

Thanks!
Marcia

That will probably help ...birds love water that moves. The slow waterfalls in my pond are a favorite for the birds.

The sound of dripping water is supposed to attract warblers especially. I have used a mister before and found it more trouble than it was worth. If you want to try a dripper without the expense you can just hang something like a gallon jug from a hook or branch by the handle over the bath, fill it up and poke a small hole with a pin or thumbtack. It will drip for many hours. If the birds aren't using the baths they may be too deep or slippery also. Sometimes adding a large rock to it will make them feel more secure.

Thanks for sharing your experience, molanic. I think I'll try your suggestion this spring.
