Be sure not to miss the little baby frog on the conflowers. The second pic is of a red bellied WP.

wow... amazing photos everyone.. please tell me, what cameras are you using?
magnum, i do believe that is a mourning cloak butterfly. i've always wanted to see one, but haven't yet. lucky you!

this 2nd site shows the caterpilar form and talks about how they overwinter (!) beneath loose tree bark and such. yet another good reason to not 'tidy up' your property too much.

and lellie, i love the one of the egret on the porch... are they really that tame, that you can just walk up to them?

Thanks for letting me know what that butterfly is. And I use a Sony DSC-H1.

I use the Sony DSC-H1 as well. Magnum, I don't get decent indoor pics with this camera...probably my own lack of skill, I know, but I use a Sony DSC-S600 indoors and it seems to be better. the H-1 is awesome outside though!

Yeah, I think the DSC-H1 is out of my league. Sometimes I get great pictures, like the monarch butterfly pic, and sometimes its like I've never taken a picture in my life. It has to be user error. The H1 has so many settings its ridiculous. I'm sure a more experienced photographer could work wonders with that thing. But, either way, I love that camera.

    rembetika...that one's so tame...I named him Phil...LOL
He flies on over in the early morning to visit while I drink my coffee and watch the 'goings-on' of the Yellow Crowns across the street.
I think he wants me to come out and play...hehehe!

Great pics all. I usually hang out in Gardenweb butterfly. Here's some I posted from this year, taken last week. All but the Osprey taken in my butterfly/wildlife habitat backyard, the Osprey was taken in the intracoastal waterway which is just behind my house.

Here is a link that might be useful: photos

I loved looking at all of these! My photography skills aren't very good but I have a couple of pictures of the baby barred owls from my backyard. I've had a pair of nesting barred owls in that tree every year since 2003. They are nesting there again this year but I haven't snapped a pic of the little ones this year yet. The first photo is one of my favorites because I just loved the way they looked at me with such curiosity it seemed.

Two baby owlettes at the nest from the 2003 nesting...
