First snake of the year!!!

Today I had my first snake sighting of the year! It was a little ribbon snake sunning in the water.

I guess Spring is really here!

This old buttermilk racer emerged from hibernation, a couple times during the winter, from a little reptile rock pile I built with snakes in mind.

This is the little rock pile I created with some little caverns in the middle, and it worked!

You guys have to rub it in. We can't even think about seeing any for at least another month or so. We haven't even had spring peepers, spotted salamanders or wood frogs yet.

Bigthicket...that's a beautiful snake.

Goldenpond...if they don't, then I wonder why I haven't seen any all winter until last week...are you sure?
