Blue grosbeak!

Boy it seems like if you mention not seeing things, they then show up.

On the thread about the Mississippi kite (and I was WRONG, they don't eat snails!!!!) I mentioned that one year, think it might have been 1994, we suddenly had a small flock of blue grosbeaks make an appearance in our yard and then just as quickly they left and we hadn't seem any since. Well, yesterday was the kind of day that makes me watch the feeders closely...dark, cool and drizzly always seems to make the upper story birds come down for a snack. I glanced out at the feeders in the early afternoon and there it was, a lone male blue grosbeak on the ground happily grazing on sunflower. I had to be careful reaching across the table for the binocs because I was wearing a white t shirt but I still got a good look at it.

Maybe I should say aloud "Gee, wouldn't it be nice to have an eagle nest here in the woods!" OR, "...wonder what an ivorybill sounded like"

But grandpa always said "If wishes were horses then beggars would ride..."
