bat box questions

Hi all. I am going to put up a bat box on my property to gobble up all the mozzies out there. I know we have them because last summer there were 2 flying around the roof of the house.

What I want to know is this:

the websites I've read say to mount it under the eaves rather than on a tree for better luck. Also, that it should be in at least 8 hours direct sun and out of the way of artificial lights. Do they mean motion lights at night?

We live in the woods and so we have motion lights on 2 corners of the house. The only side of the property that doesn't is the back but it doesn't get 8 hours of sun.

Does the artificial light from the motion lights blind them when they're flying at night? If I mount the box in a tree higher than the level of the motion light and slighty out of the path of it, will that be better?

Or should I mount it on the house, under the eaves at the peak of the attic, which is significantly higher than the range of the motion light. It would get some of it but nothing directly in it's path.

I'd hate to blind them after I get them to live there.

Any suggestions would help.
