Hi, a pair of birds has chosen to use our backyard to build their nest and I've been trying to identify them. I've given up trying to see through the labyrinth of websites on birds and not quite getting there. Any help in pointing me to user friendly websites would be greatly appreciated. The bird has a black top part with a grey breasts. Size is similar to song birds. One of the pair has a shimmery green top.

jillmcm, you are right on the money. It is a tree swallow and I've not seen them before. Thanks dragon for showing the guide.
