Black throated blue warbler in backyard

Allshade

This has been a spectacular spring for birds in the Arnold Arboretum. I have seen a redstart, a brown thrasher, a parula warbler, and an ingigo bunting, along with an amazing number of orioles and red-winged blackbirds. I was on our back porch last week and saw a black and white warbler taking a bath in our waterfall (water trickle, really), and after I got the binoculars saw the black throated blue, and then a black poll showed up! What a week. I've never seen warblers in my backyard, so three in ten minutes, two of which I had never seen before, was very exciting.

Is anyone else noticing the same? The population of inchworms also seems huge, we are picking them off our clothes after every walk. Maybe they are keeping everyone busy feeding.

But I have to admit this is my first spring with binoculars, so it could be I have just never noticed all the quieter birds before.

Happy birding!
