Yaupon holly losing leaves in July?

I purchased a weeping yaupon holly shrub this early spring around March. It's been planted since, but has slowly been losing it's leaves. It seems to still be growing from the shoots off the top, yet the lower weeping branches are shedding their leaves. It also seems that there are some berries beginning to form. Is this normal for them to start shedding so early? Could it be drought related? Or from over watering or soil conditions? It is planted in clay soil mixed with potting medium. Any suggestions??

You'll simply have to review your planting procedures and after planting program. Nearly all planting failures stem from improper planting (lots of things to go wrong there), watering issues (too much or too little), or soil problems.

Does your soil drain well? Clay soil can be perfectly fine to grow in, as long as the site drains. But you must know how to water a clay soil.
