Pond, plants, fish and wildlife

I have just build myself a pond which holds about 1000 liters. I have dream in mind of creating a healthy environment for the fish and other native wildlife, but at the same time keeping the water as clear as possible. Can anyone advice me on which water plants to use? I have read that certain fish together with certain plants can create a muddy, cloudy environment.

You need an aerator for a man-made pond. A really really good nursery (not Home Depot) would help with vegetation, although I think that tends to take care of itself, if you don't use poison on the lawn or to kill bugs.
