GARDENING GUIDESTexas Gardener's August Garden Checklist
Here's how to help your garden thrive from the hot, dry month of August through fall
Full StoryAfter a long journey involving losing part of the seeds, but finally finding them and getting three plants to come up, and babying them along, I have some blooms on one. It was wilting badly in the heat so I put an old wooden folding stepladder over the plant, draped an old sheet over it, water it daily, and it is surviving and has more buds on it this morning. I think they are perhaps not really grown in this area although one person said his parents had a whole pasture of these not far from Houston. All I am hoping for is to keep it going until I can perhaps collect some seed, and next year might move one of the plants to a more hospitable location.
