No, I didn't stop what was happening for two reasons. First, I try stay out of nature's events. Second, pigeons are a non-native, invasive species, originally brought over for human consumption.

I recently saw a gull chasing a heron ( not a great blue) in flight. Although half the size it knocked it to the ground twice. As they flew off I was unsure if the heron was going to escape with its life.

Seagulls will eat anything and they are quite aggressive. They steal eggs and hatchlings from other birds. They have been known to try to kill and eat puppies. Something to be aware of if you have a very small breed of dog.

Huh. I've lived around gulls half of my life, and until the other day, have never seen them eat anything but shellfish, bread offered by humans, or garbage. Learn something new every day.
