Lizards Anoles Where are they???

I live in the woods with a 20 foot clearing around my house. Up until about 3 weeks ago I had many many lizards, anoles, living on and around my back deck and front screened porch. I have not seen one or any "poop" in the usual places in days and days. Does anyone have any idea what may have happened to my little tenants?
The last one I saw was hiding on the edge of the deck from a blue jay in the woods. As soon as the jay flew away, he scampered down the railing and went under the deck.
Haven't seen the jay in days either. Any connection? Do jays eat lizards? What could have happened to the ones around my front porch? I miss them and want them back!
Thanks for any insite.

| Sounds like a great place, Murphy. Have you done any spraying for insects around your place? They eat spiders, moths, grubs, roaches and the like. No bugs, no anoles. |

Thank you for the response. But no spraying, trying to keep chemical free. Also plenty of spiders, bugs on the plants on and around the deck and porch. I am baffled but hopefully they will return unless as I suspect they were eaten by the birds. Don't know what I will do, counted on them to eat up their share of the bugs. Such is nature and a gardeners life. Murphy |

| That's too bad, Murphyzone7. I've recently started to see lizards in my yard, and it is wonderful. Hope your little population returns. Too bad we can't buy and release them, huh? |

I can tell you this: If you have snakes that hang around your house, you'll have a scarcity of anoles/lizards. They're a favorite 'dish' of snakes. |
