Earthworms...

Ok, so I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I looked at the forum lists and couldn't see one that matched my query exactly.

Basically, earthworms: it is possible to cultivate a colony of them? I have some large plastic sacks/containers left over from my attempts to grow potatoes. If I filled it with soil and threw them in there, and kept the soil moist would they be ok? Would they breed and produce more worms? Would they all wriggle out and escape eventually or would they stay put? Would I need to add anything to the soil for their nutritional needs? Phew!!...

Joe
