| Hi. I usually take injured critters to my wildlife center, but I can't this time. Any licensed rehabbers out there who can answer my questions?
I have a baby bunny, eyes open, furred, hamster-sized. He was caught by my neighbor's dogs 24 hours ago and was covered with dog slobber. He spent the night in a box lined with a t-shirt, halfway on a heating pad set at low temp, in the darkest, quietest room in my house. No food or water.
I'm considering re-releasing him, because I'm having a hard time finding an available rehabber at the moment.
First question -- if he had internal injuries, would they have shown up by now? He seems less "shocked" than he was yesterday.
Also, the dog slobber is dried and his fur is crispy. If I re-release him, should I do anything about his fur first? (Gentle brushing or rub with a dry washcloth, maybe???)
Thanks,
Tara.
