Can we eat this berry)

We have this berry all over our wilderness property (sky high ranch) and don't know what kind it is or if we can eat it.

I'm not a botanist, but to me this looks like some sort of gooseberry (Ribes genus). If that's the case, yes, it is edible.

I have no idea what it is, what an interesting looking plant. You could post on the "Name that Plant" forum, they can probably ID it very quickly.

It is not a gooseberry.
It has the leaves of a red currant, but all the red currants I know have berries growing in bunches like miniature grapes.

It definitely looks like a currant. Where do you live? Out west we have a plant called Wax Currant (Ribes cereum) that looks much like yours and doesn't have berries in clusters but instead much like your plant.

Maybe Northern Red Currant (Ribes triste)? I definitely think it is a currant.
