Smart vulture?

| I was driving near here last week and saw a large bird near the middle of the street. As I got closer, I realized it was a vulture. What amazed me was the fact that it was actually dragging a raccoon carcass out of the roadway onto the side of the road where it would be safe from passing cars.
Was it smart or do they normally move their food around? It wasn't eating it at that time, just dragging it away. I've watched them eat before but I've never seen them move their meal to a safer location. |

| They will eat a meal in front of one's approaching vehicle and fly off at the last minute; they do understand the consequence of remaining so it wouldn't surprise me if one moved food off the street. |
