ID needed...

I've seen these "shells", "seed pods" or "egg cases" around my home in NJ for many years but have never learned what they came from. Can someone please ID this for me?? Thank you.

Have you got oaks in the area? Because these look like Oak Apple Galls, caused by a minute gall wasp. Google Oak Apple Gall for comparison images.

Yep, that's what it looks like. We get those, too! They don't harm the tree, btw.
