Critters in the Meadow

Here's a pic of some critters in the meadow. I was horrified about how many raptors were perched and waiting for an opportunity.

| That is cute. Maybe give them some nice tasty food and a nice warm place that is safe and not to close to your house to convince them to stay with you and become locals. |

| Turkeys are becoming so populated in some areas that they are being thought of as the next canadian goose. Only good for putting messes in your yard. I still love seeing them. |

| Nice turkey pic! They are very numerous around here too. I notice that the hen starts out with 12-14 little ones and end up with 2 or 3 that grow up. |

| Woodlandgal next spring when you see the little ones you may see more than one mother. From the window in the building I used to work at we noticed the same thing. Someone read where turkeys similar to cows will leave all the babies with a nursemaid while they are small. As the season progresses the chicks seemed to split up. But you are correct for the number hatched the number living at this time of year are awfully small. |
