Too much wildlife

A neighborhood cat or some other animal is leaving the stinkiest ever pile, smells almost like vomit, consistency of grits, light tan color, less than half a cup, more of a "blob", not in a nice tube shape. Each one creates a 4 to 6 inch diameter brown spot in the grass within a short time. The lawn is completely fenced with pickets, so is a smaller animal or something that climbs / jumps the fence. I'm looking for ideas of what it is / how to stop it. I have a jug of "deer-off". Would that be an effective deterrent?

Problem solved: Saw the offending animal, a neighbor's cat with Feline HIV. He said "yeah, it's sick, had another that lived for 3 years with it" Yikes, 3 years of crappy poop! Is that redundant? He didn't realize the problem and will take care of it. My daughter is sad that it may be put away. I think if it's digestive system is in such turmoil, why let it continue to suffer. Wikipedia says "they can live relatively healthy as carriers and transmitters of the disease for many years". Thanks, really need that.

How is it transmitted? It would be fairly irresponsible of them to be spreading it to all the other neighborhood cats. Are they at least treating it for its various problems? Sad.

I was going to say that whatever it is it didn't sound to healthy. Poor cat. If folks would be responsible and keep their cats indoors things like this would not happen. To know your cat is sick and carrying a desease it can spread and still let it roam is criminal. I am very sorry for this cat and for you for having such an idiot neighbor.

The stupidity of some people amazes me.

The topic heading should read, 'Too Much Stupidity.' Domestic animals and wildlife often suffer needlessly at the hands of humanity. For anyone who's interested, here's a ling to an article that explains what feline leukemia is, how it's transmitted, etc. It should be noted that it is not transmissable to humans or other animals, only cats.

Here is a link that might be useful: Feline Leukemia
