bats in the car

OK, now I'm totally down w/ bats flying around and eating bugs and whatnot. However, I'm not really keen on opening the back of my car and finding a bat sleeping in the space between the door and body.
He's been there before. DH opened my car the other day after we were away for a week, and a bat flew out into his face. Today, luckily, he just sat there and squeaked at me. I don't know what I would have done, first thing in the morning w/o even finishing my coffee yet.
This is a subaru forester tailgate door.
Other than finishing the garage projects and parking the car inside, does anyone have any ideas on how to discourage bats from sleeping in the car? Ideas that still let me use the doors (i.e., taping the crevices not really a good option.).
Help?

| Oh my, what a funny little bat! I think you'll need to come up with a barrier that you put up after he's gone out for the night, and that you can take off in the morning when he's already found someplace else. Let's see....painter's tape (just retape it every evening), sheets, a cover for the vehicle.....I'd probably use the painter's tape until I found a good full cover. Remember, they begin hunting at dusk-thirty, so you need to do whatever you're going to do after that. |

| hmmm, another good reason to keep h/her from roosting in there is an accidental relocation- depending on how far you drive. glad to see you have your sense of humor still :) |
