black specks on mint

I harvested wild mint from my hay field, but when I dry it, hundreds of tiny black specks fall out. I'd like to use this mint for tea. Any ideas what these specks are? Could they be some kind of insect eggs?

RE: black specks on mint

If you are harvesting the entire plant they could be mint seeds. They are very tiny.
