wintersweet - mmmmm....

I cut some branches before the deep freeze hit last night - every other year I tried to use them for outdoor fragrance - very faint - you had to put your nose right on them - and many buds would get blasted by deep cold.

But bringing them in - still a delicate scent but it does drift about the room, very lightly - and when you get close - the most luxurious, complex scent I have ever smelled in a flower, like a fancy perfume with many elements blended in, clean, not heavy. Although it would be too much if it really pervaded the room like lilacs.

Always get confused - chimonanthes, chionanthes - one being fringe tree - onto google and maybe propagation.

RE: wintersweet - mmmmm....

the one i have is chimonanthus praecox. it bloomed in nov./dec. and i was able to sample the fragrance for the first time. very nice scent!
