| Fast growing is going to be a moot point - evergreens that will be hardy enough to withstand your climate as well strong winds tend to be rather slow growing. Perhaps a combination of larger, faster growing deciduous trees combined with some slower growing evergreens would work. Even the bare winter branches of deciduous trees and shrubs can serve to reduce wind. The attached link is a good listing of recommended trees and shrubs for difficult conditions in zones 3 and 4.
