I live in Alabama , new to gardening not very good so far, but I was told that mint just grows and will take over. Of course I had the very same experience with my mint. I'm hoping the plant root will continue to produce. Where I grew up in Illinois it grew wild all over our yard. Now every time I purchase it no success, I thought it was the new breeding of plants. To much genetic engineering you don't really know what your getting. Then again my thumb isn't green yet, but good luck brewing lots of mint tea for the winter.

The OP was writing 9 months ago back in January when, under normal conditions, mint should be dormant, not growing and not needing watering.

Relax - if your mint is dying it is not genetic engineering. Something else is going wrong somewhere along the line. I suggest you start a new thread of your own over on The Herbs Forum. Supply more information about what precisely is happening and provide pictures if possible. Then we can start trying to help.

Mint over winters in my raised beds in zone 6a with no protection. I would imagine your mint should come back up with spring.
