| Have been reading alot about hydro crystals on the net, have already ripped apart left over unused diapers from my grandson and put the stuffing in with my soil, but was wondering if anyone takes the wet USED stuffing, rinses, rips apart and throws this on their lawn - is it just to weird for this forum - should I shuffle off to the compost forum? |

| And why would you want to? Other than possibly adding some of the crystals to potting mixes for containerized plants, I can think of no valid reason to add a synthetic acrylic polyacrylamide with a half life of gawd knows how long to garden soil. Good, freely draining yet moisture retentive soil is not achieved by amending with synthetic chemical additives. Either add organic matter to help retain moisture in your soil, look into xeriscaping if drought conditions persist, water correctly with low emission systems and mulch regularly to reduce evaporation from the soils. As for using used diapers, that just boggles the mind! And simply tossing the waste on top of the lawn? In addition to sanitary considerations (which should be paramount), it has got to be a unsightly mess and attract all sorts of vermin. Are you serious? Even unused diapers defies imagination - you may eliminate some of the unsanitary considerations but a lawn covered with shredded "disposable" diapers will still look like s**t. |
