The Winter Garden

Winter protection of seedlings

I've planted some seedlings (such as Sassafras, Persimmon, and Pawpaw) recently that were started in pots and were transplanted to the ground. My question is this: Is there anything that I should do this winter to protect these small trees? Thanks. Mark in TN.

Snake, for one I'd set plendy of mulch/bark around these trees. Also, I don't know what they're called but what about those covers that go over plants? My neighbor uses the covers, (they look like buckets) and his plants are gorgesou come spring-summer...toni
