| I just read this in the summer, but I'll probably read it again in the winter: Stephen Butterman's hilarious collection of gardener's stories, "Tales As Tall As A Sunflower." I could not stop laughing! His stories are set in all seasons, and in the winter stories, he is doing what most of us do, but with extermely unpredictable results--planning next years garden, reminiscing about gardens past, poking around in what he calls the "Home and sometimes a brief smattering of garden news" sections. In one story, "The Young and the Rotless," a gang of "Bad Vibes" spoil his anticipation of a nature channel show about "tomatoes that don't rot." In another, he is "Waiting on Global Warming." Very funny--it would get you through a winter's (or spring's/summer's autumn's) day! |
