 o
which juniper does not need to be wrapped in winter?

Can either the Juniperus communis 'Suecica' or J.v Skyrocket make it through the winter without having to be wrapped with burlap to keep the tree from splaying open under winter snow pressure?

Thanks in advance

Wanda

Hi Wanda

You might want to ask your question on the Rocky Mountains forum also. It is usually a very active place and a number of them grow junipers.

I wouldn't expect the 'Skyrocket' to split. Columnar common juniper forms I wouldn't count on to stay together without help.

Note that 'Skyrocket' is actually a Rocky Mountain juniper (J. scopulorum) cultivar.
