Winter Window Boxes?

Posted by NYCPepper z6 NYC (My Page) on

I have an apartment with excellent cedar window boxes. I've had a great time planting in them this summer. With summer ending, I'm trying to think of something decorative to do for winter. So glad I found this forum! Can anyone recomend what I might do with them once I remove the summer plants?

I usually "plant" plastic pointsettias along with red twig dogwood and curly willow branches.

Probably a bit late in the day for responding BUT……………
There are lots of small evergreen tree available & when I say "tree" think bonsai!! I’m going to try some heaths & heathers for the first time this winter… I’m not sure how happy they will be in window boxes but I’m willing to try. I also had a hellebore in a container all winter last year. It was in an uninsulated sunroom easily visible from the armchair... beside the fire....Yea Hellebores.
