There is no more welcome plant than this, the native Witch Hazel, blooming in the Winter. I recommend that everyone plant it in the front yard and let your passers by enjoy the beautiful flowers in the dead of Winter.

The Native Americans used the bark medicinally, and we still have witch hazel sold in drug stores for skin care. It is a wonderful small tree that grows in sun or shade and has lovely greyish leaves that are a nice accent in the other seasons.
