RE: moles

We, just recently, purchases a solar powered spike that produces a vibration and noise periodically. The theory is that it is so annoying the moles tend to go elsewhere. To soon to tell. Got it to chase voles, short-tailed mouse-like animals that have been eating roots. Seems to work. Moles are responsible for ridges in lawn as they dig in pursuit of worms and grubs. Voles, the true vilains, may follow these tunnels and wreak destruction.
Also following the tunnels may be shrews. Shrews are almost blind,mouse-sized predators with the temperment of tigers and the need to eat constantly. Moles and shrews are actually helpful, but the raised tunnels are a pain.

RE: moles

I used a spring-loaded mole "trap" that I purchased from the local hardware store. You find the active runs then press down the soil and place the trap over the run. When the mole reopens the run it trips the spring loaded spikes which skewers the mole.
