Pruning evergreen topiary

jmaf

I'm in Madison, and I bought a small topiary last year. I think it is called a 'false cypress' or 'false juniper' or something like that. To me, it kind of looks like a juniper. When should I prune it? The snow has just melted away from it, but I'm not sure if it's too late (or too early??).

Thanks in advance,

- Evergreen-challenged Jan
