Hello Blossom, I don't have any vines to give away, but I usually find wild grapevines growing along the railroad trestles. You know, the track overpasses that go over the roads. I usually find lots of wild grapevine hanging down all over almost reaching the sidewalks, so I just trim them back a little for my use. I live in Glendale, but my neice lives in Waukesha. I'm not real familiar with Waukesha, so I couldn't tell you where to find the overpasses there. Good hunting and great gardening.

I'm not that close to Waukesha (northern Racine County near 94) but I have wild grape vines all over the place if you want to come and cut some down. I make wreaths with them sometimes, but there are way more than I need for anything. With gas prices so high I don't know if it is worth the drive, though, you could maybe find some closer to home. Just be sure if you cut some wild vines you find someplace that they aren't poison ivy!

I have an ugly chain link fence that I want to cover up with grapevine or some other vine foliage. There is another type that is common in this area, five leaves in a group with serrated edges, but I don't know the name. How do I get the wild grapevines going cheaply? Can I just take cuttings and put them in the fence line soil with plenty of water?
