We have a large patch of strawberries and a nice community of chipmunks, but for some reason they haven't really messed with the fruit. Maybe it's because we have two large dogs. :)

I thought maybe I was the only one to have this chipmunk & strawberry problem.

Last year I tried making individual wire hoops to protect a few strawberry plants. While that worked okay, it's too expensive for a whole patch.

I also noticed that chipmunks will burrow under the barrier to get at the ripening strawberries, so you have to do something to keep them from digging their way in.

Do you think it could be chipmunks eating my broccoli also?
Something small and fast eats my plants every year as soon as I plant them.

I know that chipmunks eat cherry tomatoes besides strawberries, but Chipmunks don't seem to bother my brocolli. But they might be eating yours. Rabbits would be an even more likely culprit. Rabbits and woodchucks LOVE brocolli here and must be fenced out.

Are you talking about the whole plant being eaten and not just hacked off at the base by cutworms?
