Need help! When to plant grass seed

Hello:)

Crazy weather this year. My lawn looks absolutely horrendous. I have just gotten the lawn raked of dead grass but now am wondering if it's too late to do my patch seeding? And the best seed for spring planting in SC WI with a lawn that is more shady than sunny.

Any help appreciated.

I do the gardens, dear husband does the lawn. This place might be more help.
