Front lawn covered with magnolia flower buds....

Took a look around yesterday afternoon, and saw tons of magnolia tree flower buds covering my front lawn. I have never seen this happen before. Has anyone else had this happen during this cold snap? The tree blooms the first week in May in "normal" spring weather. Thanks, Judy

There are hardy magnolias to zone 3. They bloom two weeks later than M. Stellata or M. Soulangiana. They come in shades from pink to purple. They are: 'Ann', 'Betty', 'Judy', 'Randy', 'Ricki', 'Susan', 'Jane', 'Pinkie'.
