Possibly moving to Wisconsin

I am going through the hiring process for a job located near Madison. Currently I live near Seattle (z 8)so it will be a huge change for me and I'm not sure of what plants I can leave out in Wisconsin that are hardy in Seattle. Any help / tips would be definitely appreciated. Some of the ones I'm not sure about: bay laurel, Chilean guava, yuzu (Citrus juno), monarda (although I will likely give the monarda to my current landlords if I do move), hardy opuntia cactus, etc. I guess when I visit (if I make it that far in the recruiting process) I'll be able to check out the plants and nurseries.

I know much of Wisconsin is z 5 ---- is it hot there in the summer? how about humidity? How long do the winters last? How much snow in an average year? Thanks for all the information as I do my "due diligence"
