I won't be protecting mine, but it never hurts.

I'd only worry if they had buds. We have a frost advisory too, but at 4am, it's 36, so I doubt we'll get any frost. The only ones I would worry about are tender annuals and veggies, like coleus, basil, tomatoes and such.
