When to Stop Harvesting Asparagus?

Hi,

When do you stop harvesting your asparagus? I didn't start to pick mine until late in May here in northern Wisconsin. Spring was cool and delayed. In one place it says stop picking after July 1, but another one says after 8 weeks, which would make it late July for me.

I've already let a few plants grow up into ferns, but some of the others are just starting to come nice and fat. I wonder if I should stop, or go for a while yet. It tastes so good!

Are you guys still picking your asparagus?

I stop harvesting my asparagus at the end of June. Over harvesting can weaken the plant and reduce the size of the spears.
