Black Krim still takes the flavor award for me. I agree, though, it's tough to beat the flavor combo of basil and toms. We also just finished a batch of pesto with home grown basil and garlic. I'm working on growing the pine nuts.

residents would chime in with their favs this year. Last yr, 'mortgage lifter' was the best. Must admit, I havent tried Black Krim. next yr, for sure. I find that all tommies are different with the various weather patterns.

This year, the two planted on the south side did poorly.
the two planted on the SE (front) yard, that had morning sun, and late afternoon shade, did beautifully. No bugs,
no virsus or wilt or cracks. I never thought tommies would benefit from some shade. I grow basil year round and love having it on site for handy additions to food, but must admit, have never made pesto. Care to pass on a recipe? Pondy

I only know ingredients for pesto, not proportions. I'd have to check with my wife on that, although online recipes abound. Besides the basic basil, olive oil, pine nuts, grated cheese and garlic we might add flat-leaf parsley and/or lemon basil to some batches.
