 o
woodland planting mix ???

I am slowly attacking my woodland area that is mostly moist clay and planting shade shrubs and perennials. Wondering how and what I should use to amend the soil when planting. I just planted some rhododendruns from Costso (great deal at 12.95 each). I just had a ton of leaf mulch delivered from the county and mixed that in well with the clay, plus a little osmocote.. Any thoughts on if this is a good practice ?? If not, what do you use in these situations ??
Thanks !!

I am not sure you needed the osmocote. My woodland garden has been fed by falling oak leaves for 75+ years and the soil is RICH. I have some clay, but I am thinking your leaves could be worked in and all would be fine. Anything I plant in this garden grows like crazy.
